Southern Puget Sound is a day sailor's or cruiser's paradise. We have pristine moorages, multiple Marine State Parks with buoys and docks, miles of beaches to roam, and also fun towns to explore, including Olympia, Gig Harbor, Tacoma, and Seattle. Emma Lee, our 30 foot Catalina, has been outfitted for family cruising and has EVERYTHING you need for a day, a week, or a month on Puget Sound and beyond.
During the past three years we have outfitted Emma Lee to meet all our cruising needs for our annual trip to the San Juans and the Canadian Gulf Islands.
We also outfit it in the winter for the club races in South Puget Sound.
It has a refrigerator, two kayaks, an inflatable dingy, a barbecue grill, hot and cold water, a sun-shower (and a small inside shower), and all the dishes and utensils you will need. It sleeps five adults: Two in the V-birth, two in the main cabin, and one on a quarter-birth. (For a birthday party for our 12-year old, we had six kids and three adults with the two dads sleeping on pads in in cockpit).
We have other vacation plans this summer so she is available for others to use, including Labor Day weekend, which has been a great long weekend for fabulous adventures.
If you want to take her out for a night, you can check her out at noon or later and return her the next day and pay for just one day. Also, if the weather forecast is not good on the day you reserve, you can postpone your reservation to a later date.
It is moored at Boston Harbor Marina in Slip 419, which is five miles north of Olympia at the head of Budd Inlet. There are four state Marine Parks within two hours and Gig Harbor and Tacoma are four hours away. South Sound is known for our great views of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier, quiet inlets and harbors, warmer swimming water (in July and August), and many bays and destinations to explore. Seattle can be reached in a day for those who want to venture further north and beyond.
If you live in Portland, Western Oregon, or Southwest Washington, Olympia is the gateway to Puget Sound.
The weekly charter rate (7 days) is $1,810.
We hope that chartering Emma Lee will be a fabulous experience for you and your friends and family.
Bob was extremely easy to work with and I will request to sail aboard his nicely appointed Catalina 30 again. My wife and our son and daughter-in-law enjoyed cruising up to Bainbridge and back to Olympia over the weekend. Bob did a great job of communicating with me when I had questions about where to eat and places to avoid and moorage. Great time and I would definitely recommend leasing from Bob!
We spent a day sailing in southern Puget Sound aboard the Emma Lee and had a great time. The boat is in extremely good condition and well equipped for a day or a week. Robert was more than helpful with information on local attractions and sailing conditions. We especially appreciated his flexibility with scheduling and his attention to detail during the boat check out. We'll charter this boat again the next time we are in Olympia.
We just got back from two wonderful days on the the South Puget Sound aboard Emma Lee.
The views were spectacular, we enjoyed the wildlife, both on and off shore, and took advantage of the opportunity to hike through the woods in two of the local State parks. The boat was clean and well appointed, the check out at the dock was smooth and efficient, and the boat handled well in a variety of conditions.
Bob was responsive and accommodating, providing kayaks and a dingy. He also had great suggestions about crushing destinations and routes of passage.
I can highly recommend this boat and would not hesitate to book her again.
My wife and I rented Bob's boat this past weekend. Bob met us at the boat and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We spent 4 days exploring the South Sound. The boat was well equipped. We spent the days exploring the various islands, kayaking, and cooking on board for all meals. It was a great experience and we are already planning our next trip on Bob's beautiful sailboat!
