Hilbert and his boat were great! Very nice and easy to work with. If your in the area and looking for a boat to take out, Hilbert is the way to go. The skiff was in great condition, ran great and was good on gas. I will use Hilbert again.
Hilbert and Lisa helped us make memories. The boat rental could not have been any better or easier. Perfect boat for any adventure and with amenities. In one day we did Beaufort, Harkers Island, Shackleford and hike to Ocean, and Cape Lookout. Thank you Hilbert and Lisa for your service and hospitality. Hope to see you again soon.
Hilbert was awesome. The boat was perfect. My family and I really enjoyed our time on the water. While we were out one day fishing, Hilbert alerted us to an area where fish were being caught. Unfortunately we were not able to participate in the fishing at that location but the fact he called was refreshing. We have rented boats before without this kind of personal touch. I highly recommend Hilbert. I will rent from him again.
Had a great time on Hilbert's boat. The new boat with GPS and a smooth fuel sipping four stroke were enjoyable to operate. Hilbert was great with communication and delivered exactly what he promised. I admit being wary of the experience of renting before hand but Hilbert was a pleasure to do business with; we had no unpleasant surprises except for forgetting some of our bait.
We had the absolute best time on this boat! It was definitely the highlight of our summer. I would recommend this Carolina Skiff to anyone who's looking to have a good time on the water. Hilbert was wonderful to work with and Boatbound made everything easy for us! We will most definitely be renting with Hilbert again!
What a wonderful experience! A great way to explore the area. This was something my family will always remember. Hilbert was OUTSTANDING...went way above and beyond. I can't recommend him enough. We would do this again in an instant.
What can I say? Hilbert is awesome and so is the boat. It completely made our family's vacation to rent this boat. It gave us access to places we could've never made it to without it.
First of all the boat is in excellent shape and perfect for getting around the Beaufort/Atlantic Beach/Cape Lookout area. The low draft made it easy to avoid the low ("skinny") water prevalent in the area and the on-board GPS/fish finder was not only helpful but I would suggest a must-have. I would not rent a boat in this area without it!! The 90 HP motor is quiet and smooth running and sips fuel. There is a USB port for charging phones and a AUX jack or Bluetooth for connecting to the sound system, which we enjoyed greatly. We had four adults and four kids on the boat and it was very comfortable. Even with this many people we still had room for two coolers in addition to the one that comes with the boat. There was also plenty of room for storing chairs, towels, suntan lotion, and other beach paraphernalia without feeling cramped. Oh, and i almost forgot we also had four fishing rods and tackle.
As for Hilbert the owner, we could not have asked for a better person to rent from. Hilbert was very thorough in going over everything we needed to know about the boat and the area, but was also not overbearing. He stood by his word on everything he told us, basically telling us what he was going to do then making sure he did it. He was always on the spot for delivering and taking the boat out of the water and was even astute enough to warn us of a storm coming in when we would've missed it otherwise. On another day (we rented it for four days) we were worried about the weather, called Hilbert, who looked at the radar and advised us we should stay where we were and that the storm should miss us. He was dead on and had we not done this or had that advice we would've went back in when we did not need to. One other thing to know about Hilbert is that he also owns a bike/scooter rental shop in Atlantic Beach so if you need either of those things you can "kill two birds with one stone" and get both from him. Great guy to rent from!
Regarding the general area, it is absolutely beautiful and ESSENTIAL to get a boat if you really want to see the area and do all that is available. Otherwise you are stuck with the tour guide destinations (which are not bad, just limited). Some great suggestions we tried from Hilbert:
Shackleford Banks. Here we were able to visit sections where the tour guides do not take you. In one spot we anchored and were able to walk across the island in about a five minute walk to the Atlantic side. Once there our family was literally the only ones on the beach as far as the eye could see in each direction. Beautiful shells and awesome waves.
Cape Lookout: We were able, due to calm weather, to take the boat to the southwest side and anchor. From there the kids could walk out to Cape Lookout point where really few people walk to from Cape Lookout due to the distance. Great shelling, beautiful scenery. Had the weather been different we could've anchored longer in Cape Lookout Harbor and went to the beach there instead.
Ruddy Duck, Morehead City. We had a nice time pulling the boat up here and grabbing a beer and snacks!
McCurdy's, Atlantic City. Another fun place to pull up the boat and get drinks/snacks/dinner.
All in all, we really had a great time and can't say enough about Hilbert and the boat. Very happy we found both and would surely use in the future!!
