The Westsail 32 is one of the most famous cruising boat designs of the 20th century, with a heritage dating back to the 1800s when Colin Archer designed a Norwegian double-ended pilot boat for North Sea duty. The design was updated by William Atkins and Bill Crealock and the Westsail was created. She is an honest and reliable boat, over-built and over-designed, with a "salty" character and traditional look and feel, from her bow "eyes" to the engraved scrollwork on her tiller.
The Westsail 32 cutter is a rugged and reliable blue water cruiser. She is 40 feet overall, 32 feet on deck, with an 11 foot bean and 5 foot draft. She is well maintained and actively cruised on Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys by her owner.
On deck she features a broad cabin top, wide side decks with bulwarks and life lines for comfort and safety. The cockpit has a bimini and awning for sun protection. Comfortable deck seating is provided.
Below deck the well-appointed saloon features a dinnete for four port side and a setee on the starboard side. The galley features a two burner propane stove top and oven, traditional icebox and Engle mini refrigerator. The forward cabin features a double birth portside and a single birth starboard side. The setee also functions as a pilot berth.
The boat has a fully battened mainsail with two reef points, hanked on staysail, and roller furled yankee. A Drifter is available for light air sailing.
Auxillary power is provided by a new Beta Marine 38 h.p. diesel engine.
An 8 foot inflatable dingy with a 2.5 hp outboard is included for shore side exploration.
This boat has a VHF marine radio with DCS and AIS functionality, Garmin chart plotter, Garmin/Sirius satellite antenna to receive NOAA weather forecasts and weather radar, and depth sounder. Paper charts of the local area plus Light List and Coast Pilot are on board with navigational tools.
The boat's life safety equipment exceeds USCG requirements.
This classic sailing yacht is perfect for exploring Biscayne National Park on a 3 or 4 day sailing adventure for up to 4 persons.
