If you are looking for the cheapest and safest way to get out and enjoy the Charleston Harbor, this 2013, 17ft Boston Whaler Montauk is the way to go. A boat captain can be provided for $25/hr.
Cheaper rates aren't always the best way to go when looking to enjoying a worry free day on the water, especially with loved ones on board. The Boston Whaler Montauk 17' is the most popular Center Console in America. It handles excellent in rough waters just like what's found here in the Charleston harbor and its 9" shallow draft allows you to go almost anywhere. These facts will definitely contribute to your perfect day on the water. The reason this boat will be a better experience for you than all of the others listed on here similar in size is because it's very simple to operate, it is very well kept and in excellent condition, and it has very nice electronics and sound system. This vessel is powered by a 2013 Mercury 90hp four-stroke which provides quiet but adequate power. The boat is available for full day rentals from sunrise to sunset. I will drop the boat off at a convenient location within Charleston that suits you best. The boat will be dropped off clean, ice in the cooler, and with a full tank of gas. I ask that you bring cash on pick-up day to cover the appropriate amount of gas that you plan on using that day. This way you may drop off empty if you wish. Great experience and wonderful time! Marc was very easy to work with. He was punctual and easy going.
His boat was in very good condition. 4 adults on board fit comfortably. Bimini top kept us out of the sun. He gave us some suggestions on where to go to fish and swim. Easy to jump in the water and climb back in. Boat handled very well in some chop (2-3' swells). Engine has more than enough power to get you around and very good on gas.
Highly recommend renting from Marc. Trustworthy and knowledgeable. Will rent from him again next time I'm in Charleston!
Marc was great to work with. His boat was in excellent condition and ran perfectly. On time and easy to communicate with. The wind built as the day went on and the whaler handled the chop without any problems. I will certainly be renting from him again. Great experience.
Marc was very easy to work with for the rental with great suggestions for the surprise I was planning. We was very open to meeting me at a number of different boat landings as we had to have him trailer the boat and put it in the water for us.
The boat was great and my entire family agrees that the day on the water was the best day of our vacation!
We had a awesome time on Marc's Whaler over Fourth of July weekend! We cruised from the harbor to Morris Island, through Clark Sound, to Folly, over to Kiawah, then up the Stono back to the harbor. Quite a trip!
The boat is practically new and in great condition. The 4-stroke Mercury runs like a champ and pushes the boat along nicely. There was plenty of room on board for our family of four to stretch out. Everyone loved the padded cushions on the bow. The boat rides larger and handles chop better than many other 17 footers.
Marc was great from start to finish. We had inclement weather on the day of the rental, and Marc was very accommodating about scheduling. We delayed for a couple of hours until the weather moved through, then met at the marina. The boat was fueled up, the cooler packed with ice, and ready to go.
We had a blast and will definitely rent from Marc again!
The entire experience, from start to finish, was just an amazing one. Marc communicated very well from the start and was extremely patient with me scheduling something. I usually have to wait until last minute to schedule something. I've rented multiple times on Boatbound (3), and am extremely thankful for the experience my wife and I had on his boat. Everything was " as advertised". The boat is basically new and everything is in good working order. Marc did a thorough walk through and when we left the dock, I felt completely comfortable with the boat. We cruised in the harbor, then up the ICW towards Isle of Palms, then back across the harbor and south on ICW to Seabrook Island, then back to the dock. Let's just say I put a few miles on the boat and experienced everything the water could throw at us. We had smooth water in river, a choppy harbor, a congested ICW, an even choppier harbor, a calm ICW, then an extremely rough Wadamalaw Sound on the way back. Oh....and I believe it was the hottest day of year so far.....am extremely thankful for large bimini top. The boat did great the whole day. I will definitely rent from Marc again. My wife and I had the time of our lives, and are extremely thankful to have met Marc and for him to have rented his boat to us. If you are thinking about renting Marc's boat.... Just do it, you won't be disappointed.
